A CRAFT centre has a programme of workshops for youngsters this summer.

Young people can use the custom-built studios at Making Space, in Bishopstoke Road, Leigh Park, each Tuesday and Thursday, and use the specialist equipment, working with professional designers and artists.

Ami Lowman, in charge of education at the charity-funded craft centre, said: ‘We noticed we were lacking in workshops that appealed to teenagers and young people so we thought that this summer would be a great opportunity to trial some special workshops targeted at 11 to 16-year- olds.

‘Our kids’ workshops are always great fun and very popular but as our regulars grow up we want to offer them and others something special and just for them.’

The sessions cost £8.50 and run from 1pm to 3.30pm, as well as a full programme of the usual children’s activities.
