PEOPLE who have Type 2 diabetes or are at risk of developing it are being offered exercise classes.

Dr Andy Scott from the University of Portsmouth will provide the ‘Blood Sugar Exercise Magic’ classes.

They are designed to provide people with diabetes an opportunity for friendly, structured exercise.

The classes will be similar to normal exercise sessions, but modified.

Dr Scott said: ‘I hope as many people as possible will take advantage of this opportunity.

‘There is very little provision of exercise specifically for those wishing to control blood glucose, despite physical activity being an important moderator of blood glucose and having the potential to decrease the development of complications in this group.’

Each session costs £4. They are being held at 6pm on Mondays and Thursdays at Buckland Community Centre, Portsmouth, and at 6pm on Tuesdays at St Vincent College in Gosport.
