Fun signing and singing challenge for children

College in running for top national awards

PRIMARY school children from Portsmouth and Hampshire are invited to sign up this month for a world record breaking attempt for the most people signing and singing at the same time.

The national deaf healthcare charity, SignHealth, is hoping more than 150,000 schoolchildren including thousands from across the south will join in with the event, to take place at 2.45pm on February 8 next year.

Steve Powell, chief executive at SignHealth, said: ‘Earlier this year 94,489 children took part in our sign2sing 2011 event, including pupils from Portsmouth, and smashed the Guinness World Records. The previous record was 13,418.

‘We are once again inviting schoolchildren to take part in the world record attempt for the most people signing and singing a song simultaneously.’

The event will also be a fundraiser for the charity through sponsorship from businesses and a suggested donation of £1 for everyone taking part.
