IT was a day of joy and jubilation at Bay House School in Gosport as its students received record-breaking results.

Results day at the Gomer Lane school and sixth form college was one to be proud of with 70% of students getting the gold standard of grades, which is five A*-C GCSEs including maths and English, up from 57% last year.

Kate Winter, from Gosport, picked up her results today, gaining eight A*s and five As.

Kate, 16, said she was really happy with the results but that gaining them was not easy:

‘I had to do quite a lot of revision’ she said.

David Hall, a member of the headship team at the school, said: ‘We are really, really pleased with how they have done.’
