There were lots of smiles at Mayfield School in Portsmouth this morning.

A total of 54 per cent of students got the gold standard of 5 or more A*-C grades including English and maths.

James Martin-Jones, 16, from Osier Close, got an A, a B and 3 Cs.

He is going on to study at South Downs College. He will study computing, 2d art, music technology and graphics.

He said: ‘ I’m feeling very pleased. I’m very happy.

‘I didn’t expect to get an A in computing because normally I don’t do very well in that.

‘I’m aiming to work in the games industry in the creative side.’
