MILTON Glee Club has raised more than £1,100 for a veterans’ support charity.

The club’s performance with the Royal Marines Association Concert Band at the Guildhall in Portsmouth attracted 1,300 people. A total of £620 was raised with a bucket collection for the Veterans’ Outreach Support based in Portsmouth.

The organisation was also presented with a cheque for £500 from Milton Glee Club’s chairman Bob Minnell at the concert representing the surplus raised from ticket sales.

Around 200 serving and ex-service personnel and their families were given free tickets to the concert resulting from a bid to the Community Covenant Fund.
