THE largest graduate recruitment fair on the south coast is taking place in Portsmouth tomorrow.

The Graduate Recruitment and Placement Fair at the Guildhall will bring together more than 50 employers, with hundreds of university students considering their first job.

The free event is sponsored by Philips and organised by the University of Portsmouth’s employability department, Purple Door.

The fair is aimed at University of Portsmouth students and its graduates from up to five years ago. As well as graduate jobs, students can enquire about placements and ask recruiters questions.

The major recruiters coming to the Graduate Recruitment Fair are: B&Q, BAE Systems, Bam Nittall British Army, Civil Service Fast Stream, Jagex Games Studio, Skanska UK Plc, Phillips, NATS, Milkround Online, NHS Leadership Academy, Microsoft UK, HP and CSC Ltd. Last year more than 2,500 students attended the event.

The university’s head of employability, Julia Hughes, said: ‘Our graduates are highly valued by employers and the university is committed to developing the strong relationships it has established with local, regional and national employers.

‘Our courses focus upon developing the employability of all individuals and developing those personal transferable skills sought by employers and to make our students aware of how to market themselves successfully in the global job market.’

The fair runs from 11am until 3pm and campus cards must be shown on entry.
