A TEAM that provides support, advice and information to 7,500 school governors across Hampshire has received its seventh award for the quality of its service.

Hampshire Governor Services has just been awarded the Customer Service Excellence Award from central government.

The award recognises ‘public services that are efficient, effective, excellent, equitable and empowering – with the citizen always at the heart of public service provision’. Mandy Parsons, head of governor services, said she was delighted to win the award.

‘This is a challenging standard for any organisation to achieve and to be judged to have done so for the past 15 years reflects our continuous focus on meeting customers’ needs, and the strength of our partnership with governing bodies who buy our services,’ she said.

Cllr Roy Perry, the county’s lead member for children’s services, added: ‘I am delighted to learn our governor services team has yet again won an award for the excellent service it provides to schools and their governing bodies.

‘This award is further endorsement for a service already viewed as a national leader.

‘Governors perform a vital role in the running of schools and anyone who comes forward to be a governor in Hampshire’s schools will be further reassured by this award that they will receive the highest levels of support to carry out their important role.’
