STUDENTS from four schools are working hard to design and build model powerboats which they will race to win at the Ocean Basin tank at Haslar in Gosport later this month.

Teams from Springfield, Bay House and Crofton schools and Henry Cort Community College are among 10 schools from Hampshire and Dorset taking part in the challenge run by defence and security company QinetiQ on May 18. It is designed to give 13 to 16-year-olds an opportunity to see the importance of science, technology, engineering and maths.
