STUDYING Latin in her spare time has won a student a place at the University of Cambridge.

Former Purbrook Park School pupil Hannah Tuck achieved stunning A level results at Havant College – but it was her dedication in returning to her former school to learn Latin in her spare time which won her a place at one of the world’s best universities.

Hannah said: ‘Being a member of Christ’s College is wonderful; everyone is so friendly and it feels like I’m a member of a close-knit community. I want to thank all the staff at Purbrook Park for making this possible, but especially Mr Wills who taught me Latin for seven years.’

Roger Wills, Hannah’s Latin teacher, said: ‘We are all so proud of Hannah at Purbrook Park. Latin is a very challenging language to study to an advanced level but with her commitment and determination, Hannah succeeded and was deservedly accepted at Cambridge.’
