YOUNG scientists pitted their brains against each other by observing gymnasts in action.
Students from Havant Sixth Form College won the Physics Olympics Challenge at the University of Portsmouth.
Colleges across the south competed in the prestigious event.
The day-long competition was divided into three sections.
The first was observing gymnasts and answering physics based questions, based on the topic of mechanics.
The second was based on designing a product that would provide maximum bounce to a 4kg iron ball when dropped.
The third comprised of giving a presentation and explaining the physics behind the product.
