CHILDREN at a Fratton school were transported to a world of giants, fairies and magic waterfalls during a day of writing workshops.

Pupils at Penhale Infants enjoyed creating a new fairytale with the help of the city’s school community arts co-ordinator Anna Moreton – posing as a failed writer in desperate need of ideas before her publication deadline.

The youngsters had drama sessions which helped fire up their imaginations before they set about helping Anna compose a fairytale packed with mythical creatures.

Sue Bowen, Penhale’s literacy co-ordinator, said: ‘The children had some brilliant ideas.

‘The workshops helped enormously, building the children’s confidence, imagination and inspiration.’
