A LECTURER from the University of Portsmouth has been selected as a finalist in the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year Competition.

Dr Trudy Barber from the faculty of creative and cultural Industries was selected from 2,000 entrants and will take part in a competition that will be filmed and broadcast on Sky Arts.

The winner will have their work displayed in the National Portrait Gallery and receive a £10,000 commission to produce a portrait of award-winning author Hilary Mantel, to be displayed in the British Library.
