BRAINY youngsters have secured a place in the top 10 of a national maths competition.

Years 4 and 5 at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, in Gosport, took part in the Sumdog National Harvest Festival Competition.

Sumdog is digital game-based way of learning about maths. The youngsters earned eighth place.

More than 459 classes across the United Kingdom took part in the competition, which ran from September 19 to 25.

Teacher Stephen O’Donnell said: ‘My class are very proud of their collective achievement.

‘They will be taking part in the next national competition.’
