A schoolgirl is a step closer to winning a singing competition after wowing judges with her rendition of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good.

Mollie Scott, 13, has made it through to the south of England round of the Open Mic UK 2011 – one step away from the grand final with an overall prize of a recording contract.

The Warblington School student said: ‘I never thought I would get this far.

Mollie will face her next panel of judges at Highlight Comedy Club in Gunwharf Quays on November 27.
