AN MP has urged people to vote for a school so that it has a chance to win a grant of £5,000 to build a gardening area for pupils.

Meon Valley MP George Hollingbery wants to see Meon Valley School succeed in its bid for funding from the One Family Foundation.

The school wants to develop an area in the playground to encourage outdoor learning.

Many other schools and projects from across the country have applied and the projects with the most votes will win the money.

The problem is that West Meon is a small school and so far only has 33 votes – prompting parent Tanya Darlow to ask the MP for help.

‘This is a case of David against quite a few Goliaths, so please do help West Meon School in its attempts to improve learning for pupils,’ said Mr Hollingbery.

‘If they’re successful, I very much look forward to an invitation to see the finished area.’
