CHILDREN transformed into characters from Roald Dahl’s books to celebrate the popular author’s birthday anniversary earlier this month.
Dozens of six to 11-year-olds at Mayville High in Southsea dressed up as oompa loompas, Willy Wonkas, Matildas and much more as they took part in a Roald Dahl quiz, writing postcards to his characters – and their own choreographed oompa loompa dances.
Tabitha John, eight, came as George from George’s Marvellous Medicine – and served up a potion of sherbert, lemonade, plastic flies and jelly worms.
She said: ‘Sadly there were no magic effects apart from making people feel sick!
‘I had a great day and I especially enjoyed making up an oompa loompa dance.’
