CHILDREN are given an exciting and stimulating environment at a nursery that has just been rewarded with a good Ofsted report.

Twinkle Cottage Day Nursery in Fratton, Portsmouth, was praised for its fun outdoor area where children run around, play hide and seek, dig in the sandpit and kick footballs.

It was also given the thumbs up for early maths learning as youngsters count and solve problems as well as nurturing their imaginations through role plays.

Inspector Lynn Reeves said: ‘The nursery is light, bright, colourful and welcoming to both children and their parents.

‘Examples of children’s artwork and creations are displayed, developing their sense of belonging and achievement. Equality and diversity are promoted well. Children are provided with an inclusive environment and learn about valuing each other’s differences.’

She added: ‘Children play and learn in an exciting and stimulating environment.

‘Staff provide good support and interaction during activities. They plan a wide range of activities to ensure children continue to make progress.’

There are 36 children on the roll.
