A SCHOOL is appealing to people who speak foreign languages to help them stage a whirlwind tour of the world’s lingo.

Horndean Technology College which currently teaches French, German and Spanish, is keen to introduce its students to a range of other languages including Arabic, Polish, Mandarin and Japanese at a Speedlingo event.

The session from midday until 3pm on March 7 would involve volunteer linguists to teach a 10-minute taster lesson on anything from counting up to 10 or introducing names of animals.

Cathy Peters, head of modern foreign languages, said: ‘We believe that the Speedlingo event will be a great opportunity for students to learn about other languages and cultures and will also encourage understanding and community cohesion.’
