THE PETERSFIELD School looks set to become a new-style academy after getting the go-ahead from government.

The school applied to become an academy following education secretary Michael Gove’s invitation last year to all schools rated as outstanding by Ofsted.

Headteacher Nigel Poole says there has been strong support for the move from parents. The school is expected to become an academy from July 1.

Mr Poole said: ‘I am delighted that we have been given the green light.

‘The additional freedom and funding that academy status gives us can only benefit the present and future students at TPS.’
