A SCHOOLBOY will transform into a dwarf for a prestigious production of C S Lewis’ classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Ed Waller, a pupil at The Petersfield School who is studying drama for GCSE, is rehearsing hard for the Chichester Youth Theatre’s Christmas production at the Chichester Festival Theatre.

The 14-year-old secured the part of Grumpskin, the Witch’s dwarf servant, after auditioning with more than 500 hopefuls for 80 parts. He has been involved in previous productions including The Firework Maker’s Daughter and Alice in Wonderland.

Ed said: ‘It’s great to be working on such an enjoyable large scale production, and I am really looking forward to the first show.

‘It’s hard work, though – between December 17 and 31 we’re doing 22 performances!’

Tickets for the play are from £11 to £23.50 and can be bought from the Box Office on 01243 781 312 or online from
