PUPILS have walked miles in a bid to raise money for children who are desperate for water in Africa.
More than 400 pupils from Wicor Primary School in Portchester walked up to two miles across the school field to raise money for Oxfam’s water week.
They carried buckets of sand to symbolise the water that children in Mali walk 3.7 miles for every day.
Mandy Robbins, learning mentor at the school, said: ‘It’s been amazing.
‘We are incredibly proud. They have been building up skills of empathy and understanding of others and how to work in a team.’
The children raised £450 for the walk, on top of a further £780 from previous fundraising events.
