A PORTSMOUTH solution has been found for a Portsmouth school that lost its headteacher earlier this month.

Deamonn Hewett-Dale, head of Flying Bull Primary in Buckland which is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, has been appointed executive head of nearby Charles Dickens Juniors.

Sandra Miller, Charles Dickens’ head of 10 years, stood down on May 1 to enjoy a holiday and seek a new post in September.

Mr Hewett-Dale said he was excited to be taking on the job at a school that has strong similarities to his own and even shares some families.

He said: ‘The future for Charles Dickens Juniors will be a Portsmouth solution.

‘I feel I’m in a good position – I know the area and I’ve got fantastic teams at both schools who will be supporting me.

‘We will be aiming to provide the best education for all the pupils. I’m extremely excited about this opportunity.’

Mr Hewett-Dale’s contract runs until April 2013.

Charles Dickens Juniors and Infants are consulting on amalgamating.
