PUPILS at a city school are launching a community arts project entitled My Portsmouth in conjunction with Portsmouth in Rhode Island, USA.

Portsmouth High School is taking part in the project which will be launched on Monday.

Local artists and community groups have been invited to create a piece of art on a blank MDF tile representing the uniqueness of Portsmouth.

Graeme Field, assistant head at Portsmouth High School, said: ‘This is a project that will appeal to any artist who has a personal link with Portsmouth.’

The project is open to artists of all kinds and the school is encouraging anyone with an idea that can be portrayed on an MDF tile to take up the opportunity.

Blank tiles will be available from the school from Monday.

Completed tiles should be returned between Monday, March 24 and Saturday, April 26. They will be shown in a public art exhibition at The Cathedral of St Thomas, Old Portsmouth from Monday, May 26.
