A STUDENT from Copnor will have a week-long insight into the world of engineering after been selected to attend the Renishaw Engineering Experience.

Lewis Sudbury, 16, who attends Portsmouth College, is one of the six winners of the national competition.

The competition gives students a unique opportunity to get up close to the engineering organisations that have an impact on our daily lives.

Organised by Renishaw, one of the UK’s leading engineering companies, and Young Engineers, the organisation devoted to encouraging careers in engineering, the competition is now in its second year and aims to inspire young people to consider a career in an industry which is calling out for skilled engineers.

Rod Edwards, chief executive of Young Engineers, said: ‘I was extremely impressed by the standard of applications received for this year’s Renishaw Engineering Experience.

‘Selecting the six sixth-formers was difficult. I believe we have an exciting and informative week lined up for the students.’
