YOUNGSTERS and staff at Hambledon Pre-school were so happy with their recent inspection that they baked cupcakes spelling out ‘good Ofsted’.

The pre-school was awarded the second best possible grade following a visit last December, when it was noted for its committed staff and well-behaved children.

Sara Watson, committee chairwoman, said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled with this result, and it is testament to the hard work over the last year of both staff and committee members.

‘Not one to rest on our laurels, we have been given areas where we need to improve and we will be concentrating on those over the next year.’

The inspector was impressed with the pre-school and found the children to be ‘happy, settled, self-motivated... and making good progress in their learning.’

The report went on to say that ‘staff demonstrate caring and positive attitudes with all the children’.

The pre-school at Hambledon Youth Hut, in West Street, currently has 24 children aged between two and five years on roll.

It is hosting an open morning from 9am until midday on March 10.
