The princess is patron for the foundation and chose to come to the Portsmouth school, which is taking part in the week.

The aim is to increase knowledge and understanding of healthy eating, cooking and physical exercise.

After a private lunch and tour of the school, Princess Anne watched students prepare a healthy meal and asked questions.

Headteacher Natalie Shepphard said: ‘its a great honour for us to be chosen as the launch school for Healthy Eating Week.

‘This is important to the school as I want the girls to learn the importance of looking after themselves to stay healthy and safe.’
