YOUNGSTERS from two Portsmouth schools have helped to brighten up a building site in their area.

Seven and eight year-olds from Somers Park Primary School, and eight to eleven year-olds from Cottage Grove Primary School picked up their paint brushes to make murals at Warwick Crescent, in Somers Town.

Their work is now on boards surrounding a building site where Portsmouth City Council is building seven eco-friendly homes.

Somers Park Primary School pupil Ansumana Sanyang, eight, said: ‘Our painting is of the smiling faces of the people who will live here when they’re built.

‘We’re looking forward to the new homes being here.’
