Pupils engineering skills put to the test

The event, hosted by St John's, challenged students with engineering problems  linked to the James Webb Space Telescope '“ a NASA observatory  positioned in space.

The challenge, which was run by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, was one of 176 events taking place nationwide. 

The teams had to race against the clock to solve a real life engineering problem through putting their knowledge and technology skills to the test.

IET faraday education manager, Natalie Clerke, said: '˜Students who take part in the challenge will experience working as an engineer through the practical engagement of  real life challenges.'  

St John's College won the competition and were awarded with prizes and the chance to secure an all expenses paid trip to the national finals in Edinburgh.
