CHILDREN raised nearly £4,000 for Cancer Research UK by holding their own Race for Life.

Pupils from The Victory Primary School in Paulsgrove brought in £3,891.74 and the Lord Mayor, Councillor Frank Jonas, visited the school as part of a cheque presentation to a representative from the charity.

Speaking to pupils, the mayor said: ‘You should all be very proud of your achievement for raising this fantastic amount for Cancer Research UK.’

The school’s sports co-ordinator Kath Unitt said: ‘We are really proud of the fantastic contribution the children have raised for the charity.’
