YOUNG footballers on a local team were scoring well – but their kit was looking more like an own goal.

A firm has now stepped in to give a new kit to Purbrook Junior School’s football team.

To say thank you, the school invited Sharon Smith, from Waterlooville-based J Edwards Funeral Directors, to a school assembly.

Two members of the football team read out a poem they had written as a thank you for their new kit.

Mrs Smith said: ‘I had a lovely morning and thought the kit looked great.

‘We look forward to a winning season from the team, and also to working closely with the school in the future.’
