A SECONDARY school will welcome new pupils and their parents with the opening of a new building and field.
The new wing at Purbrook Park School in Waterlooville contains six new teaching spaces, and will be unveiled on Thursday.
The building will also house a discovery centre which includes a large computer suite, as well as a two-storey catering facility with a restaurant and cafe.
The school has tied in the opening of the building and field with the school’s open day for parents of prospective students.
The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Faith Ponsonby, will join county education representatives for the unveiling of the building at 11.30am.
A player from Portsmouth Football Club will also be making an appearance at the school on Park Avenue for the opening of the new field at 1.30pm.
Pupils will have the opportunity for a kickaround during a junior soccer session which has been arranged as part of the grand opening.
Natalie Aggett, director of teaching and learning at the school, said: ‘We’re all excited about the official opening of our new building.
‘It’s a fantastic facility that will benefit the pupils immensely.’
