HIS Royal Highness, the Earl of Wessex visited support groups for armed services veterans in Portsmouth today.

Prince Edward, 50, visited members of Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) and other groups at the Royal Maritime Club in Portsea.

VOS trustee Joe Erskine, 66, of Cosham, said: ‘The visit really means a lot to us. We’ve really worked hard over the last eight years and it’s nice to get some recognition and appreciation.

‘At the same time it’s an opportunity to thank the people who have thanked us.’

Afterwards the Prince went to Portsmouth Grammar School to formally open a new sixth-form centre.
