A STUDENT from Fareham College has been praised for his commitment by commuting daily from his home in Swanwick to Southsea for an apprenticeship.

Steven Jenner, 19, an NVQ level two hairdressing student, is working in United Salons, Southsea, as an apprentice.

Tony Wood, artistic director of the salon in Castle Road, said: ‘Steven is probably one of the best apprentices I’ve had and it’s a credit to him that he does all the travelling. He’s working really well at the moment and is a strength within the team.’

United Salons offers employees opportunities to improve their skills through courses and hairdressing shows.

Tony said: ‘We have our own personal training in the salon alongside the college training.’ This week marks National Apprenticeship Week.
