NEXT week will be dedicated to a campaign to create wildlife sanctuaries in our seas.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust is holding a series of events to promote the importance of marine conservation zones.

On Tuesday there is a marine discovery event in Emsworth Methodist Church and Chichester Harbour.

There will be trips out on a solar-powered boat to find out about plankton and how to spot a seal.

Drop in for indoor activities at the church hall, including a sea cinema, an indoor beach and art activities.

Find out what shark eggs look like and imagine what it’s like to scuba dive in the sea.

Booking is essential. Call 01489 774426.

On August 8 there will be a pirate party at Milton Locks Nature Reserve.

Children can enjoy salty stories and play seafaring games to find out what is hiding amongst the seaweed.

The event is for families with children aged four to seven.

Booking is essential by August 6.

The suggested donation is £3 per child. Wear outdoor clothing and wellies. Call 01489 570240 to book or go to
