TWO teams of pupils proved their life-saving skills and secured a place in the final of a first aid competition.

The groups from Wykeham House School in Fareham will compete in the St John Ambulance National Schools’ First Aid Competition.

The pupils, one junior and one senior team, won the south-east heat of the competition at Notre Dame School in Cobham in May.

Headteacher Lynn Clarke said: ‘The girls learn so much through this contest, not only about first aid but also leadership and responsibility.

‘They all try so hard to do their very best for their team and their teacher. I wish both teams every success for the next round and whatever the outcome we know they will have tried their hardest.’

Jo Buchan, education officer at St John Ambulance, said: ‘All of the teams have done really well and it’s brilliant to see so many students passionate about first aid.’

The final will be at Drayton Manor Theme Park, Tamworth on June 26. The winners take home a £750 prize for their school.
