A SCHOOL’S former pupils are being encouraged to get in touch to mark its 115th birthday.

Stamshaw Infant School is celebrating the anniversary.

As part of the year, staff are looking for local residents or people connected to the school to share their memories of Stamshaw. The school would like to hear from anyone who used to attend Stamshaw Infants, the old junior school, or who has lived in the area for a long time.

Headteacher Jo Cooper said: ‘We’ve had a great time so far on this project. The children started off exploring the school building itself.

‘We held a Victorian school day and the children came dressed up in Victorian costume and the teachers dressed up too. Later in the year they went out and about round the local area, looking for clues and links to the past.

‘But the best links to the past are through local people and their memories, and that’s why we want people to get in touch.’
