A World Cup-winning coach has been inspiring PE teachers at a sport conference.
Sir Clive Woodward, who guided the England rugby team to World Cup glory in 2003, was the keynote speaker at the Hampshire PE and School Sport Conference,
Giving the keynote address to 150 delegates, Sir Clive shared the benefit of his experience and knowledge to help PE teachers to raise attainment across the school curriculum through PE and school sport.
Councillor Peter Edgar, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for education, said: ‘Sir Clive is an icon of British sport and meeting him, I was struck by what a charismatic and highly motivational character he is.
‘Hearing how his techniques can be applied across all sorts of sports was an absolute eye-opener.
‘School sport makes an enormous contribution to the overall attainment and achievement of the young people in our schools and I have been really encouraged by the commitment and enthusiasm shown by all the teachers who attended this stimulating conference.’
