LUCKY children have had the chance to see a solar powered car at their school.

The Cambridge University Eco Racing (CUER) team and solar power car was brought into Boundary Oak School in Fareham.

It was all part of a project by recruitment specialists Matchtech to try and inspire more young people to choose a career in engineering.

Headteacher Paul Spencer said: ‘It’s a day of excitement and adventure for the children, giving them a chance to understand what engineering is really about.

‘It’s about imagination and making things happen.

‘It’s been absolutely incredible. From the moment they first saw the car you had that gasp of excitement.

‘For the girls and the boys to see something real like this is wonderful because not only is it real it also looks to them very futuristic and exciting and that excitement is what we want to see.’
