STUDENTS on an animal care course at South Downs College are putting on two gigs for charity.

The second year students, based in Waterlooville, have organised a battle of the bands at St Francis Church, Havant, on May 19 to raise money for the Plastic Ocean Foundation which aims to cut plastic waste in the ocean.

Bands include Paradise Falls, Where’s The Addition and Akaverie.

Tickets cost £2.50 in advance and there will also be a barbecue in the church’s car park.

The next event is on May 23 at the Edge of the Wedge, Albert Road, Southsea in aid of Tiger SOS and Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital.

Confirmed acts are Paradise Falls, Set Your Sail, Earth Born Kings, Upswitch and Chris Richards.

Through cake sales, an Easter egg hunt and a sponsored dog walk the level three Btecextended diploma students have managed to raise £1,000 for charities including Canine Partners and the PDSA.
