A GROUP of college students have transformed a community centre in Southsea with a lick of paint.

The students from Highbury College decorated the hallways and toilets at the Motiv8 Omega Centre – an education facility that engages with young people and helps them to get on in life.

The team were from Highbury’s Moving On programme, a one-year course that allows students to improve their skills and confidence by taking part in a community project, at the same time as gaining a qualification.

Moving On aims to engage NEETs, those people not in employment, education or training, with a more personalised style of foundation learning.

Abigail Hart, a student who worked on the project, said: ‘It took a long time to plan but the Motiv8 staff were really pleased with what we accomplished and it looks much better than it did before.’
