FINE art students at the University of Portsmouth are putting on an exhibition that boasts a variety of styles from modern pieces to traditional oil canvases.

The show – Infusion – promises to wow visitors with creations from second year students aged between 19 and 70.

It will be launched this Friday from 4pm until 7pm, and the show will run officially from May 9 until May 19, when members of the public can bid for the artworks.

Hannah Simpson, one of the contributing students, will be presenting an oil painting on wood.

She said: ‘I’m fascinated with how the female form has been perceived throughout the ages and what I’ve done is taken a modern day media image of a woman and painted it in the style of a woman in the 1940s.

‘It’s all about challenging the way we look at women and questioning how and why things have changed.’

She added: ‘It’s going to be a great exhibition and a fantastic opportunity to show what we’ve achieved in our year.’

Infusion opens next Monday at the Eldon Building, Winston Churchill Avenue, Portsmouth. Entry from 10am until 5pm on weekdays is free.
