STUDENTS will get the chance to play football with Pompey players.

Cowplain Community School has joined forces with Pompey in the Community to provide school pupils with some sporting activities through the summer term.

The activities will take place between 7.45am and 8.30am every midweek morning from today – Monday June 2 – to Wednesday, July 23.

Headteacher Ian Gates said: ‘Evidence shows that participation in sports activities helps to improve the self-esteem, confidence and health of children.

‘By taking part in the new breakfast clubs I’m sure that our children will reap many benefits and arrive at their daily lessons even more motivated and ready to achieve their best.’

The sessions will be led by professional coaches from Pompey in the Community who will also arrange for Pompey players and coaches to drop in.
