COLLEGE students hosted an event for employers to network and invited Fareham MP Mark Hoban to speak.
The day, at Fareham College, was organised by Level 3 BTEC Business Diploma students.
Mr Hoban’s talk included a comparison of UK productivity with foreign competition and an exploration of the skills needed to drive sustainable economic growth.
Representatives from more than 20 businesses attended including Barclays, Morris Crocker, Mb Air Systems and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, providing multi-sector expertise.
As well as drawing valuable information from Mr Hoban’s speech that could be incorporated into their BTEC coursework, students had the opportunity to network with the employers.
Student Victoria Nightingale said: ‘It has been a fantastic experience to put the theory we have learnt in the classroom into practice and plan and run our own high-profile event.
‘It has also been a great opportunity to meet employers and to hear such an interesting talk from Mr Hoban.’
