OLYMPIC swimmer Katy Sexton has thrown her support behind a counselling charity.

Ms Sexton, who comes from Portsmouth, visited Off The Record at its base in Purbrook Way, Leigh Park.

The 29-year-old met some of the counsellors who help guide young people through difficult times.

Ms Sexton is now a patron of the charity, which also has premises in Fratton Road, Portsmouth.

Ms Sexton, who won gold at the 2003 World Championships and has competed at the Olympics, said: ‘I’m thrilled to be patron for Off The Record.

‘It’s such a wonderful charity and supports so many young people in the local area.

‘I know first-hand how important counselling can be and how much talking can help, especially in those teenage years.

‘I look forward to working with Off The Record in the future to ensure that this vibrant and welcoming charity continues to deliver such an essential service.’

Any young person needing help from the charity can call (023) 9278 5999.
