SCHOOLchildren had the chance to get in front of the camera and learn about photography.

The University of Portsmouth started the Up For It club, which encourages young people from all backgrounds to do further education.

They hold a number of workshops with the latest one showcasing studio photography.

The students took turns posing for the camera and taking the pictures to give them a feel of a photography course.

They also experimented with light photography.

Huon Barlow, 14, from Cowplain Community School, said: ‘We had a great time.

‘Before the day, I wasn’t sure about going because I don’t like to have my picture taken but I soon had a go.

‘It was good to find out about the different courses you can do.’

Russell Squires, lecturer and photography technician at the university, said: ‘We had a really fun day.

‘Everyone enjoyed the session.’
