EIGHT lucky youngsters from a special school in Milton will spend the day in a theme park thanks to the generosity of a Portsmouth club.

Southsea Castle Rotary Club is sponsoring the group of eight to 14-year-old Mary Rose schoolchildren to enjoy a trip to Paultons Park in the New Forest next Wednesday.

Carol Jenkinson, member of the club, said: ‘We are all so looking forward to the fun day out because it will give these youngsters a chance to go out in the world and do things normal children take for granted.

‘It is heartbreaking when you think of just how much some of these children struggle with their physical problems, but then when you see the joy they get from such events it makes the whole experience so worth while.’

The trip forms part of the annual Rotary Kids Out Scheme for disadvantaged young people across the country.
