GIRLS at a Fareham school have been dressing up to celebrate Book Week.

Wykeham House School chose the theme of Classic Children’s Books for its Book Week this year.

Clare Greenwell, head of the Junior School, said: ‘The aim of the week was to get the girls reading and gaining a knowledge of as many classic children’s books as possible from a book list.

‘As well as reading the whole book, girls could choose to read extracts or an abridged version.

‘The girls had a wonderful time and learnt a lot about classic books along the way.’

Prizes were awarded to the biggest bookworms at Wykeham House.

Younger girls enjoyed a drama workshop and everyone joined in with decorating their classroom door as a book cover.

There were also quizzes, book swaps and competitions.
