A PRE-school that goes out of its way to make sure children get lots of outdoor play has been rewarded with a good Ofsted grade.

Bright Sparks pre-school, at Titchfield Community Centre, has no playground but staff take youngsters to nearby Titchfield Primary every day to use its playing fields.

Government inspector Jacqueline Munden praised the caring environment and good progress made by youngsters.

She applauded the staff’s commitment to physical play outdoors and initiatives like a rolling snack bar and growing cress indoors to give children good ideas about healthy eating.

Sally Eland, manager of the pre-school, which is run by a committee of six parents of children who attend, said: ‘We make the best of what we’ve got and with the backing of parents as well as qualified staff we get the best of both worlds. We take our children out every day, we fundraise tirelessly for the pre-school and parents of children here are 100 per cent supportive’

There are 43 children aged between two and four on the roll.
