THE headteacher of a school in Leigh Park judged as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted has been appointed a National Leader of Education.

Chris Anders, of Park Community, and his staff will now be able to support schools in challenging circumstances.

As well as leading his own top-performing school, Mr Anders will be expected to improve the leadership of other schools to help raise standards.

This new responsibility involves anything from coaching heads to running a school after a failed inspection.

Mr Anders said: ‘It’s an exciting opportunity and a recognition of the achievements here and our capacity to help others.

‘This school was in special measures in 1996, and we hope we’ll be able to offer an insight into what’s possible.’
